The Answer

I have noticed that as we age our vision fades along with our beauty. I think there is a relationship here. Our sight fades so we don't see how ugly our mate is getting every year, or our ownselves for that matter. It all makes sense.

Highlight for You

I am employed by a company with the highest micro-management I have ever seen. We clock in using pictured identification cards, so at the beginning of each week, we verify and sign our hours worked on a print-out. Well, someone with nothing better to do goes through and highlights discrepancies with our time. Now, the kicker is what they consider a discrepancy. If you are scheduled to be at work for 8:00 am, you will get highlighted for clocking in at 8:01 am. If you are scheduled to get off at 5:00 pm, you will get highlighted for clocking out at 4:59:57. YES! Is this not absolutely ridiculous? (It doesn't matter if you try to make up time in the afternoon, you only get recognized for the bad.) Also, lunch breaks are also calculated to the minute. We have a 15-minute rounding window, but we still get highlighted. Just so we know to be on time. They must not know who I am.

I understand that companies want to cut their costs as much as possible. Hell, I try to do that at home. If it causes extra work, to me, it is worth the price. We recycle weigh-paper that we weigh out our samples on, which compromises our results. We recycle disposable pipettes, which compromises results. We recycle GLOVES, which compromises our health and is a major OSHA violation. We use cheap paper filters instead of glass, which is cheaper, but 10 extra steps have to be taken. I could go on an on...

OH...and any thoughts of a 90-day evaluation should go out the door. Even an evaluation after a year is unheard of. Who needs a merit raise?

Do What I Do

Ok, I have to let you in on what is not a secret. I'm not particularly happy at my job. I know, it may have come as a shock, but I had to put the truth out there.

The trend is that when people quit, they do not hire a new people to replace them. Simply, more work is tacked onto everyone else. However, I think that my station is a wee bit too busy for them to tack on anything more.

My tactic: If you play stupid all the time, eventually they will quit asking you questions. Most importantly, you will not get asked to take on new responsibilities.

Some of you may consider it unfortunate for others to think that you're stupid, but I have found enjoyment in it. Sometimes the more you know, the more you have to do. I don't plan on moving up in the company, so why learn new things. My resume is full as it is anyway. If I perform any new tasks, I will be over the one page limit.

Over and over again, I find a great parking space, and then someone has to come and mess it up. Usually, I get pretty pumped when I find a close space or one in the shade. Unfortunately, some moron pulls up so close to you that it makes you regret parking there in the first place.

At UL, I have been known to leave notes on vehicles. I didn't do it often. OK...OK...I confess, I did it once, but it felt REALLY good. Some girl illegally parked, and she made it close to impossible for me to get out. I could not back up and give myself enough space to maneuver out of the space. I must have backed up and pulled up at least 15 times. I was getting pissed. Driving a standard pickup truck did not make the task any easier.

I left her a note, just to let her know about herself. It made me feel so good. I never did it again, but I will jump on it, given the opportunity. Actually, I would like to leave this:

Wolla-Wolla

The girls at work gave me the DL on boobs. Yes...boobs. I learned that Red likes to squish hers down, at work, with a sports bra, but apparently, they are big for her size. Lena knows all this because she used to work at Victoria's Secretions.

Next on the agenda: undesirable synonomys for boobs. At first, Lena said that she didn't like "hooters." I bursted out laughing. I haven't heard that word in forever, other than the restaurant. They both agreed that "titties" was really gross.

On another note, mom just walked in my room. Apparently, I need a reason for being quiet. I have to be bright and bubbly every single day.

My response, "because I want to." So, then I have an attitude problem.

"I'm your mother. You're not supposed to have an attitude with me."

My response: "I can if I want to."

Everything Hurts

I stand, in one place, at work, all day. They have not ordered me stress mats, and I don't think that they are going to. My feet hurt from standing, and it does not end there. My ankles hurt, and the pain radiates up my leg. My knees, hips, and back also hurt. I really need the mats. This company cares for it's employees. I can see it in every action.

Standing Tall

I turned down the job at Lourdes. It makes me feel better about myself. I would have been distraught if they would have rejected me. I wanted the job, but I can feel good about turning them away. I am bigger and better than they wanted to reward me for. This is one of the few times that I have said no to a job offer. Yay for me!

A Shot to the Heart

Lourdes called me today. They offered me the position that I wanted. I was really excited throughout the conversation. Then, we started discussing pay. Basically, they offered me HALF of what I am making now. I have to decline the offer. I feel underpaid now, but I was willing to take a pay cut. I am not willing to take this big of a cut. The future isn't looking so promising.

I had dinner tonight with some nurses that I worked with at LGMC. Hopefully, things from tonight will become successful.

Slipping...

Kim has been working at Company W, since 1998. She started just after I left. I am on my lunch break now, and by the time that I get back to work, she will have put in her two-weeks notice. I'm so happy for her, but it makes me realize how I feel stuck.

She deserves to leave. She has not recieved a raise in four years. If that doesn't tell you everything about the company, you're stupid.

Everyday, I feel like I'm falling deeper and deeper into a depression. I will continue to attempt to look on the bright side. I thank God everyday that I have a job, no matter how crappy it is.

In a Rut

No news on the job front. I am still hoping that is good news. I must be patient. I am much more in a hurry than there are. (I am still trying to convince myself.)

I got my parents hooked up to Cingular tonight, and just for that I get a $25 debit card. PARTY! What is really aggravating is that they each got identical phones to mine! Am I the only one that finds this incredibly annoying? One house and three identical phones. Not cool.

Yes Grasshopper

Can you see how HUGE these grasshoppers are?? I know, my camera sucks, but these are some big mamma-jamma's. I don't know the exact name of them, but they are all over the swamp area near St. Martinville. Chickens don't eat them, and fish don't bite on them. They are evil creatures. Freaky...

No Escape

Monday through Friday, my days are all the same. My alarm rings at 06:50. I wake up thinking, how much I hate my current job. I eat breakfast, while I watch ABC News. (I hate CBS because Lori Meaux-Steele may pop up on KLFY, and she's the most aggravating person on the planet.) I eat just about the same thing every morning, either cereal or pancakes with orange juice.

I get to work in about 12 minutes. I have to check in with the guard. As I am driving through the plant, the smell of vitamins makes me want to vomit. I get to work, clock in, then enter the QC lab. Upon entering the lab, in about 0-5 minutes, Eva decides to jump my shit about something. She makes up something stupid every single day. No validity to any of her arguments. I'm going to explode on her, and soon.

I grab my 8 standards that I have to run on my machine every 24 hours, then I begin my day. I have to prep my standards, then put them on the machine and let it run. It takes about an hour and a half to run them all. Eva comes look at my machine, then she bitches at me because I am running a Biotin standard. I test for Biotin everyday, so I have to run a standard for Biotin everyday. It's the way that it is supposed to be, but she doesn't understand. I just grin and bear it.

While my standards are running, I make mobile phase (to dilute my samples) and/or start prepping the samples that have appeared on the cart. I make 10 liters of mobile phase daily. I use it all! I run an excessive amount of samples. Each samples takes 100 mL to dilute. Most have a second dilution, but that only uses 9 mL of my diluent. So, to figure out the calculations...I run about 100 samples per day. (At 100 mL per sample, and using 10 L....that yields 100 samples.)

During the day, while I'm busting my butt...I get bombarded with new samples that are coming in and need to be done NOW. I say, "Yeah-yeah...put it in line. I'll get to it, when I get to it." I take an hour lunch everyday, unlike some people, because that is MY time. I use all of my time! I know they do not realize how much I don't care. Also, they can't figure out that it takes more than one person to do my job.

I leave late everyday. Too much to do, too little time.

I get home. Mom's here. She is always here. I hate living at home. I walk in, and mom says: "You back?" or "You made it?" I can bet money on it. She says it every single day. I have come to not even pay attention to it, eventhough it's like nails scratching on a chalkboard.

At that point, I walk to my room and remain there for the remainder of the night. I hate my working life, and I hate my homelife. I am not sure others fully understand. In fact, I know this.

Kevin is an asshole, and he treats everybody like shit. Everyone here has to alter their lives to accommodate him. Well, I bring up stuff to mom, and she takes his side each time. No matter what, they bow to King Kevin. I am not sure why, but that's the way of life around here. So, I stay in my room and avoid it all.

Monday through Friday, I'm at work or home. No escape. I am stuck in this life, this life of nothingness.

Po Lil' Crib

This is Cypress's little shot-gun house that she lives in for free. Must be nice! I have been fixing it up for her while she is gone. Tonight Cypress called me. She is doing well, and coming home in about a month. I'm excited too.

Her house has become my little weekend getaway. I only go there on the weekends, and it helps me escape in more ways than one. Hopefully, I'll be able to get my own place soon so I can permanently escape this hostage-holding prison.

Cooperation

Tonight, I performed a full butt shave. At work, they requested that I shave it because it will be a little more pleasant for them to screw me in the ass.

Wiggin'

I'm on my lunch break, and still no word from Lourdes. I checked my email, and no rejection letter. No news is good news, right?

FLUF

Yesterday, I decided that would remove Kevin's account from my computer. He just bought an MP3 Player, and he thinks that he's going to download music on MY computer. A computer that he did not pay for, on a phone like that he does not pay for, on an internet connection that he does not pay for. (We still have dial-up because that's all we can get in the country.)

Tonight he calls me because he wanted me to let him on the computer tomorrow. By the way, the computer is in my room. The room that he seems to think is his second bedroom. I told him that he could use the laptop, which is another computer that I paid for. However, I will allow him to use it because I won't use it anymore. He still wanted to use this one, but I convinced him that the laptop still works....and that is because it does.

Anyway, he calls back later. I guess he thought he thought he got smart all of a sudden. He said, "Let me on your computer tomorrow because I need to use the printer." Sorry FLUF, printer is out of ink. Try again, asshole.

My First Time

I am here to announce to the world, or anyone who is bored enough to read...that today, I had my first time. About 10:00am, I took a poo for the first time at work. The first poo at a new job is always a monumental experience. It opens a new door. The barriers have been broken, and I feel free as a bird.

Swim Party

Today we celebrated the 4th at my aunt's house in Duson. Tons of people were there, and I do mean tons. My mom's younger sister tends to just invite anyone that she meets off the street...and they came. Lordy!

Anyway, Kevin, my loser brother, was drinking...as always. He decided to proclaim his ignorance to everyone. Although, most everyone there was ignorant, so they probably thought that he looked smart. He told everyone that if he went to school, he would go to Med School, Pharmacy School, or go for Nursing. Those are pretty bold words there, fat ass. I mean, you did drop out of LSUE early in your second semester because you couldn't handle the Rad Tech program.

Also, he decided to tell everyone that I didn't have a real job when I graduated college. Yeah, he told everyone that I didn't have a job making above $8/hour.

THEN, tonight we all had to evacuate the premises because he decided that he was hosting a card game with all of his friends. So...my mom and dad...THE OWNERS OF THE HOUSE...had to go watch TV in their bedroom...while my mooch-ass brother took over the rest of the house, until well after midnight. Once again, everyone had to alter their lives so that Kevin could get his way. Who the hell is he??

Oh, that's right. He's the 29 year old Postal Worker still living at home with his momma. I almost forgot.
