This morning I went to Cypress's house. When I arrived, I saw someone in the garden picking vegetables. I continued to enter the house. After opening the door, the lady approached the house. It was her mom. I went out and talked with her. She's such a great lady. This is the second time that I have met her, and she talks like she's known me all of my life.
If anyone has seen "Lady" please return her to Cypress's house. That's her pet hen, and we cannot find her. "Skittles" is still hanging around though.
Whoops...I got distracted by being on the phone with Christina all night. I'm tired now. Remind me tomorrow to write about my day with the family.
To be continued...

Getting Better
Today, I left work at 17:15. I'm getting a little better. I have decided that I am only going to do what has to be done. I'm not going to stress myself about doing everything like I have been doing. The manager makes a list, and I'm only going to complete what is on that list. Nothing extra. It's just a job, not a career. I'm not killing myself over it. They don't even care enough to let us take breaks or provide us with adequate air conditioning.

It's Seven O'clock
I get to work early everyday. I leave work late everday. This is becoming a serious bad habit. This evening, I left work at 19:00. I was the last person to leave, again. Everyone leaves on time, and does not offer to help me in any way. They all know that I have the heaviest workload, but that doesn't seem to affect them. Of course not because it does NOT affect them. If ANYONE ever asks me to help them, I will refuse. That'll be how karma will come back to bite them in the ass.

Happy Birthday Nick!

Today is Nick's 26th birthday. Lately I've been thinking about how old I feel, but it's always nice to look at your friends that are older than you and realize....they will ALWAYS be older than you. Congratulations on making another year. Relish in your twenties because you don't have much time left!
This picture was taken in December 2004. We went to watch Notre Dame play in the state championship, at the Super Dome, in New Orleans. It was fun. We got to stay in an awesome place, on Dauphine, one block from Bourbon. I want to go back!

She's OK!
Cypress called me tonight, and she's doing OK. Right now, they are just training, and she is having a lot of fun. They are mostly sleeping in tents, but last night they were in a small town (population 255). She talked with one of the guys from there, and his graduating high school class had 4 people. I thought Crowley was small!
She is the oldest person on the crew, except for the crew leader, who is 30. She is eating very well. She was happy to say that she's eating better now than she was at home.
She said that she thought about me the first time that he had to take a poo, which was 2 days after she got there. She said that after she pooed, she ran around like a happy little dog. Oh, and she hasn't been able to take a bath yet. It's been a week. That's sexy.
She was excited to hear that I dropped some "things" off at her house. She told her crew members that she left her house completely in my hands. Don't worry Cypress, it's in good hands.

Here is a picture of a Steller's Jay. It is one of the birds that Cypress took notice of on the PCT.

Here is a picture of two Banana Slugs doing it. Looks how bright and yellow these slugs are! Also, they are really big, about the size of bananas as well. Wow...this shit is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

HPLC
Chromatography is the science which is studies the separation of molecules based on differences in their structure and/or composition. In general, chromatography involves moving a preparation of the materials to be separated - the "test preparation" - over a stationary support. The molecules in the test preparation will have different interactions with the stationary support leading to separation of similar molecules. Test molecules which display tighter interactions with the support will tend to move more slowly through the support than those molecules with weaker interactions. In this way, different types of molecules can be separated from each other as they move over the support material.
Chromatographic separations can be carried out using a variety of supports, including immobilized silica on glass plates (thin layer chromatography), volatile gases (gas chromatography), paper (paper chromatography), and liquids which may incorporate hydrophilic, insoluble molecules (liquid chromatography).
High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is a form of liquid chromatography to separate compounds that are dissolved in solution. HPLC instruments consist of a reservoir of mobile phase, a pump, an injector, a separation column, and a detector. Compounds are separated by injecting a plug of the sample mixture onto the column. The different components in the mixture pass through the column at different rates due to differences in their partitioning behavior between the mobile liquid phase and the stationary phase.

Acetonitrile
A colorless liquid with an aromatic odor. It is used in organic synthesis as a starting material for acetophenone, alpha-naphthaleneacetic acid, thiamine, acetamidine, amides, amines, higher molecular weight mono- and dinitriles, halogenated nitriles, ketones, isocyanates, and heterocycles. It is used in the manufacturing of acrylic fibers, pharmaceuticals, perfumes, nitrile rubber, and pesticides. It is used to remove tars, phenols, and coloring matter from petroleum hydrocarbons; to extract fatty acids from fish liver, animal, and vegetable oils; and to recrystallize steroids. It is used wherever a polar solvent having a high dielectric constant is required; as a solvent in non-aqueous titrations; and as a non-aqueous solvent for inorganic salts.
Acetonitrile burns with a luminous flame. It may cause explosions when in contact with strong oxidizers; nitrogen-fluorine compounds are potentially explosive in contact with it. It can react violently with sulfuric acid, oleum, chlorosulfonic acid, and perchlorates. It forms explosive mixtures with air. When heated to decomposition, it emits highly toxic fumes of cyanides. It is incompatible and reactive with strong oxidizers, nitrating agents, indium, dinitrogen tetraoxide, nitric acid, and ulfite. It will react with water, steam or acids to produce toxic and flammable vapors and nitrogen oxides.
Acetonitrile is poisonous. Massive doses of acetonitrile can produce sudden loss of consciousness, violent convulsions, paralysis, and death from respiratory arrest. With smaller but still lethal doses, the illness may be prolonged for one or more hours. In the early phases of poisoning, an increase in vasoconstrictor tone causes a rise in blood pressure and reflex slowing of the heart rate. Exposure to acetonitrile can cause hyperpnea, dyspnea, headaches, anorexia, asphyxia, nausea, vomiting, chest pain, weakness, stupor, convulsions, anxiety, vertigo, stiffness in the lower jaw, and pink coloring of the skin. Its vapor can irritate eyes, nose and throat; liquid can irritate skin and eyes.

Not the New Guy
Today, a girl that I worked with at SPL interviewed with us. They asked me about her, and I gave a thumbs up. She ended up getting the job.
It appears that 4 new people are starting on Monday, which means that I will no longer be the newest kid on the block. We have been severely short-handed. I heard the Assistant Lab Manager asking the Lab Manager about where everyone is going to be placed. I heard where they were placing a few people, then the Lab Manager looked around to see if I was in the room. From that, I get the feeling that I am going to be moving. I don't really know how to feel about that.
I hate my job anyway. Are they going to fire me? They don't have a reason because I haven't done anything wrong, but that never stopped them from firing people before. They already went through the Holocaust.
I have had no training. On my first day, I was working alone. Today was day #8, and finally, my questions have almost disappeared. Actually, I am surprised that I caught on so quickly. I guess it doesn't take much. If you have worked in one lab; you have worked in them all. If you can follow a recipe, you can work in a lab. If I get the job at Baker-Hughes, I won't feel bad about quitting since they haven't spent any time or money in training me. They have been backed up, and I think we're up to speed now.
I don't know if they are going to move me, but I don't know why they were being quiet about it. They may not have even been talking about me, but I always expect the worse. Is it a promotion/demotion? Who knows? Who cares? I don't like what I do now, and I don't think that I could like anything else that I do at this company. They could surprise me.

Can't Make the Cut
First, I would like to make a disclaimer. I have many friends in the business, and I do not intend to offend anyone.
Now, I am sick and tired of people trying to give me advice about a job. They now know that I have a job. Even when I was in school, people told me, "What are you going to do with a Biology degree, teach?" Obviously, these folks are clueless.
I will stick with my motto: Those who can't....teach. It's simple.
Almost every person I know who could not handle their own curriculum, in college, switched to education. It was the easy way out. I hear an echo.
Also, teachers are always whining about how they want more pay. Let us see...They work mid-August through May. They are off for a week for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas, and a week for Easter. That's another month off! Also, they are off for countless other holidays during the school year. Their schedule is 08:00-15:00. Hmm...that's less than normal people work during a day. Oh, then there is the excuse, "We have duty!" OK...so you have to sit on your ass for 45 minutes to an hour doing absolutely nothing but gossiping with students or other teachers. That doesn't sound so bad. Then the teachers that only teach a class for an hour have an "off-hour," so they have an hour break during the day.
So, then there is the next excuse: "We spend all night making lesson plans, tests, and grading papers." Well, that is true for teachers in their first year of teaching a class. After that first year, you use old test from the previous year, with some minor revisions. Lesson plans do not change that much from year to year either. As for grading papers, I have never been in a class that teachers didn't have their pet grade the tests. Also, there is the infamous passing back of the tests. Teachers are slackers.
Some have a superiority complex. I am sure we have all come in contact with some. Since they couldn't make the cut in their own life, they like to give others, that they think are beneath them, a hard time.
If I was a teacher, I would be dragged out in handcuffs the first time one of those little bastards mouthed off to me. Teachers say they deserve more money for putting up with the kids. I think that is the side affect of taking the easy way out. The main complainers of those in education are the teachers who never had a real job before. They are used to crying to mommy and daddy.

Happy Birthday Erica!

ERICA! Welcome to the half-way-to-fifty club! Erica and I have been friends since we had the same 7th grade homeroom, Ms. Cormier. I think that was back in 1992. DAMN...we'z getting old. Sorry that we picked at that dress that you were wearing. I hope you're over it now.
This picture was taken on a night that we were at Bennigan's. I had a few 2 for 1's and you ended up having to drive my Mazda back to your condo. That was ONE of MANY nights that you had to take care of me. "I'm doing good, huh?" Lord-day...I must have been crazy. Thanks for all of the good times.
Now look at you...all grown up, married with a family in the making. That's exciting!
I need to get invited to see your new house one day. I'll talk to you again soon. Hope you had fun at your mom's today, and I hope that you're not starting to feel too OLD.
OH, and I almost forgot, thanks Beth. Erica is on the left, and her sister-in-law, Amber, is the girl on the right. I wasn't even thinking of that because I know who Erica is, and everyone else should as well, right??

Goodbye for Now
I have known for a while that this day would come, but I was hoping that it would not. Today, Cypress got on a airplane with a destination of California. She is starting an internship through school. She will be working on the Pacific Crest Trail.
At UL-Lafayette, she is studying Environmental and Sustainable Resources, and this is right up her alley. She is excited and nervous all at the same time. She doesn't really know what to expect, so it's: "expect the worst, hope for the best."
Amber and I rode to the airport together to see our good friend off. Also, we had to keep her company until her flight left.

This is me, Amber, and Cypress sitting outside Lafayette Regional Aiport looking real cool. Especially when you're holding your own camera. A sure shot to capture the double chin.

No trip for Cypress is complete without her kermit.

Before she left for her flight, Cypress's family arrived at the airport to wish her well. Here is Cypress with her mom. They are so alike. This is the first time that I have met her mom. I like her.

The whole family, Jake, Cypress, Mom, and Jeremy.
Well Cypress, I am sad that you're gone. By now, you are in Cali. I hope that everything will go well. I miss you. I'll do my best to keep everything together at your house while you're gone. I'll see you in August.

TV Night
Tonight I was watching PrimeTime Live on ABC, while I was catching up on both Beth's and Jessica's blogs. They were doing a special report on miracle drugs. First on the list were study drugs. This really caught my attention, since I have a perscription for such a drug. I took it while I was in college, but I have not taken it since. These medications do work, but the main concern is that kids will not be able to stop taking them and become dependent.
Also on the report was a pill that may be the fountain of youth. Results seem to work, and they expect to add 40% to the human life span. Talk about overpopulation! There is no evidence that supports that you will live longer.
On the list to attack, were the male enhancement drugs. They don't work.
During a commercial break, I went to fix myself some fat free ice cream. I see that mom and dad are watching some show on the WB, and it perked my interest. It is a show about guys, apparently in their late twenties, who have never been on a date or have even had "relations." It's actually pretty funny. The girls on the show appear to be stupid blondes, and the guys are dorks. This show is supposed to bring them together. RIGHT...that's going to happen. If anything, maybe the guys will finally leave their parents' basement and be social after this is all over.

Tuna Surprise
Whenever I want to shed the gut, I turn to tuna. That is just what I did today. Back in the day, mom always made tuna-fish sandwiches. More than likely, it was because it is cheap. That's another good reason to eat it. She would make it with eggs and mayo. YUM! I loved it, for some odd reason.
Well, I have tweaked it slightly, and I made my own recipe. I'm going to share it with you, whether you care or not. I substitute the mayo with plain non-fat yogurt. Keep the eggs. I add dill relish and minced garlic. Season to taste. I like everything spicy, so that's how I have mine.
To keep with the theme, I eat it on wheat bread with reduced fat cheese. Tomatoes are good too because they speed up your metabolism. The cancer-fighting lycopene doesn't hurt either.
Since it is the first of the month, let us take a moment to reflect on how lucky we are. You and I could both be standing in the welfare line getting a free hand-out from the state. Instead, we are slaving at our jobs for low wages. Ahh...how I have been blessed.

I'm with the DJ
Geez...it really is busy at Company W. Today I did a bunch of samples, and I left late. Life was so much brighter when I was unemployed. I washed my car everyday. I tanned. Now, I have a bike AND a job. It just wasn't meant to be this way.
After work, I went with Nick to DJ at a party. It was an end of the year party for a group of catholic school teachers. The "queen" of the party received a pelvic thrust from the "king," and she ended up almost falling through an open window. Luckily, her head stopped her when it broke the glass. I felt her pain, and not the pain caused by the impact.
Pauvre bette, sha!

Rain Dance
I love to sleep in bad weather. Actually, I am fascinated by storms. This morning, I was lying in bed, and I heard the thunder rumbling and the rain tapping the ground as it rolled off the roof of the house. It was comforting.
We really needed the rain. Crops were suffering, and the ground was cracking. I went walking in the yard, two weeks ago, and I could hear the grass crunch as I stepped. It is supposed to rain again in the morning. I get to snuggle in my bed and listen again. Now, I'm excited to go to bed.
If it rains all day, I'm not driving. Although, I'm thinking that it is pointless. I don't want to drive it on wet roads because it is going to get dirty. On the other hand, if I don't drive it tomorrow...and it stays clean, it will get filthy at work the following day. The driveway and parking lot at work is filled with limestone and white dust. In one day, my black car looks like a pile of dirt was dumped on it.
I'll drive it tomorrow, and watch the water dance on the waxed hood. It'll be fun.

Red-Tailed Hawk
I rode my bike to work today to see how long it would take. Always, there is a hawk perched on Airport Road. I have always seen at least one, but many times they are paired, on the lookout for their prey. So, while I was riding my bike, I passed under the bird. I guess it made an alarm call. It was a rasping whistled scream cheeeeerrrr falling in pitch and intensity. You know, the sound that is usually used in movies. The exception is that when the bird is almost right above you and only about 25 feet away, it is pretty freaky. It sent chills down my spine, and I had goosebumps.

The Red-Tailed Hawk is uncommon but widespread; it is commonly seen perched on trees, poles, or fenceposts along roads or fields. Because it is so numerous and easily seen, this species is the one against which all other buteos are compared. Nests in tall trees with open feeding areas nearby. Solitary. Hunts mainly from perch, choosing same sentinel perch day after day; sometimes hunts from the air while kiting. Feeds mainly on small mammals. Stocky and broad, with rounded wings and short tail. Striking red tail of adult distinctive. In flight, also note pale underside of flight feathers and dark mark on leading edge of underwing.

Solve for X:
My math test at Baker-Hughes went well. I was a bit nervous because it has been many years since I have taken a math class. It took me a little while. I second-guessed myself, but I am assuming that is just because I was a little rusty.
Tonight, Kara and a friend of hers, Kyle, were in Crowley. We tore up that seafood buffet at the Rice Palace, and then we went for a tour of the big city. First Stop: "Our dear ole' Crowley High." It is hard to believe, but Crowley High now has walls! I caught a little glimpse of it through the doors. Amazing! We walked all the way around the school. It's crazy how memories come flooding back. The place hasn't changed much, but it reminds me of how times have changed. We went to the football field, and walked arond the track. It was pitch black, so we didn't stay out there long.
We pulled on the gymnasium doors, and it opened! Walking through the girls' gym, Kara showed me the spot where she first met Erica. (By the way, Erica, Kara says that she hasn't heard from you since your wedding. I know...I know...it takes two.) Now, back to MY story. We walked through the girls' locker room. First time I had been in there!

We went into the boys' gym. WHOOSH! Memories...pep rallies, assemblies, PE, and graduation. I remember when Orlando Thomas gave a motivational speech here. He talked about how you can do anything if you work hard enough. He said that when he was a Freshman at Crowley High, he wanted to play football, but he was too small. So, he started lifting weights. The bar alone was too heavy for him, so he started off with a broom stick with some light weights on each end. Then, he got busted for drugs in Crowley two weeks later. Ahh...dreams...
We also went into the boys' locker room. They have remodelled. I don't know why...the football team sucks now. There is also a bunch of new workout equipment. Sure ain't helping them on the field.
After leaving the home of the "olive and the gold," we rode around and looked at the 500 houses for sale in Crowley. Chook came meet us. We hung out on the swings in the 3rd Street Park, and that pretty much ended the night. They left at around midnight. We had fun, and it was great seeing her again, after over a year.

Happy Birthday
Happy 24th Birthday, Erin! Erin and I have been friends since I was in the third grade. Mais, dat is a long time, yeah tee. We were the stars of Godspell. I wanted to give her a little recognition on her day.
Think of Me
Have you ever smelled the inside of your multivitamin bottle? Go ahead and do it now. I will wait for you.
How was that? Awful, huh? Multiply that by 20, and that is what I am exposed to everyday at work. The smell absorbs into my skin, clothes, shoes, and lungs. I washed my hands throughout the day and took a shower; the smell remains. I have lined the seat of my car with washable garmets. Hopefully my new car will not smell horrible.
It is no secret that I am obsessed with scent. Today, I realized where that originated. My Senior year in high school, I worked at the same place that I am working now. Cheryl, Erica, and Katie were always telling me how much I stunk. (Some other people too, but they are not even worth remembering.) Constantly, I was trying to find things to kill the odor and freshen at the same time. This mission continued even after I was no longer an employee there. I can see myself spending a small fortune on things that smell good. It's not hot to smell like vitamins, trust me.
Lady E is a lady that I worked with at Company W. She is still there now. Today she told me, "Brian, I always thought about you everytime I washed dishes in that sink. I remember how you scrubbed that sink, and it came out so clean. You know, it hasn't been cleaned since." Then, we both laughed. That made me feel so special. I was just being my usual OCD self, and she remembered that after all these years.
OH MY GOD! I am FREAKING OUT! I had to interrupt this post because I just got a voicemail. Baker-Hughes is calling me to go in and take a math quiz because they are considering me for mud school! I knew it! As soon as I took another job, they would call. I would so take it too because it is double the money (at least), plus a company car, free gas, free insurance, free cell phone.
Ok...I had other things to post about, but now I am completely done. Lemme go buy a math book.

First Day Back
I started at Company W today. I watched some boring training videos, and I almost fell asleep. After that, I went to get my physical done. I have never had such an extensive physical. I had to stretch, lift weights, and all kinds of stuff. My testicles were even man-handled, literally. He could have at least taken me to lunch first.
It is 7 years ago, today, that I graduated high school. My...have how the years have flown.

I am rolling my eyes
Today was my interview at Our Lady of Lourdes. I was early; they were late. I really do not like interviews, and I'm tired of trying to sell myself. This morning was no different. One of the first questions the guy asked me was: "You have a degree. Why are you applying for this job?"
"EXCUSE ME? Why the fuck did you call me, then?" I'm thinking. This really stinks. I know this isn't the job of my dreams, but I was going to like it. I do not need to be insulted. I should have said, "Excuse me sir, but you have you tried to look for a job in this town lately?" I just simply stated my reasons. I was already pissed off, so my body language did most of the talking. He mentioned that he would check on the other positions that I applied for within the hospital, and get back to me. Mostly because I would be more suited for the other positions.
After the interview, I am not a happy camper. I get a call again from Company W. It was Joel, the General Manager of the company. He called to offer me a job, and I accepted. I finally have a job. Also, I was surprised at the pay. I start tomorrow.

Inspired By Beth
I have a new bike! I have been wanting one, and now, thankfully, I finally have one. I took a ride today. I'm not certain, but I think I rode 10-12 miles. I now know that I need a more comfortable seat because my butt is still hurting. I was in severe pain when I returned home. I want to put a tractor seat on my bike.
After enjoying nature's beauty, I took a walk around the yard and snapped some photos.

Philadendrin's have interesting leaves, and they are a great filler in the garden.

A Lily of the Nile about to bloom.

Here is a purple flower that I thought looked interesting. Oddly enough, I'm not sure of this plant's name.
Anyway, I do the best I can with 1.0 megapixel.

Corolla
We caught some naughty teenagers tonight. Nick and I were driving from Cypress's house, behind the Blackum Coliseum. Parked on the side of the road was a maroon Toyota Corolla. Hmm...seemed strange...a new toyota, parked. We slowed down, and I pulled out my keychain light to examine things closer. LOW AND BEHOLD...there was some oral sex going on! BUSTED!
My advice: find a better place than the side of the road, for goodness sake.

OoH...That's Pretty!
Usually, I write my posts as things come into my head. I do not plan them out. I go just with what feels right. Also, I must admit that I am A.D.D. I know many people try to use it as an excuse, but I am. Trust. Anyway, I took the meds for a short time, and they help. I just don't like taking medication, of any kind. I prefer to keep my temple sacred.
Anyway...I just thought that I would enlighten you on that...incase you notice that I change topics randomly during a post. You should try carrying a conversation with me!

Summer!
I went swimming today! First time this summer, and the pool was cold as ice water. Cypress, Amber, and I were laying out at Bayou Shadows Apartment Complex. (None of us live there.) The sun was hot and this made the perfect opportunity to hop in.
I inched my way in. You know when the pool is really cold, you hate to just jump in. Well, thats how I feel. So, I chose to go in on the steps. Getting my body accustomed to the cold temperatures one step at a time. Then, when I got to the end...I was sucking my gut in...like that would warm me up. At that point, I plunge into the water. I come up, with my jaw even with the surface of the water, I am really feeling the low temperature. My breathing pattern was changed. My body was definitely feeling the shock. It was great! After a minute or so...I got out, and continued to thermoregulate.
Albertson's called me today to go in and fill out my paperwork. I told them that I accepted another offer, and that the schedules would conflict. In a small way, I felt bad. They paid for me to take a drug test, and I still turned them down. Oh well...their groceries are expensive. They can afford it.
Company W called. I was not around to answer my phone, and they did not leave a message. I thought that was pretty rude. Is that a rejection? I am hoping it is, that way I will not have to be the one to reject them.
Finally, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center called me for an interview on Monday, at 09:00. I will be interviewing for a pool attendant. I am quite excited. I love working in hospitals. I am finding it strange that I get all my calls on a Friday.

Dreaming of You
Sometimes when I dream at night, I remember having the same dream more than once. Last night, I had an episode that was no different.
We were in the cemetery near my house, in Ebenezer. Actually, I took a walk there, a few weeks ago. Me, and a few others, were standing at my grandfather's burial site. I was very emotional standing there. He is buried beside his parents, and I was also deeply touched by the view of their graves as well.
We always refer to him as "Paw-Paw Rad." Kevin and I never met him. He died at the age of 42, a month after being diagnosed with cancer. Mom had just found out that she was pregnant for Kevin. They told him, but they are not sure that he understood. He passed away on Father's Day.
I was never very close to my mom's dad. He remarried, and we were never really a part of his new live with his new family. He passed away at the end of 2004. Often, I feel like I never had a grandfather, and I consider my Uncle Bob as the grandfather figure in my life.
Years ago, I used to pray that I would dream about Paw-Paw Rad. I wanted him to come into my dreams so that I could get to know the man who I have only heard about. Have those prayers come true now? Is this the beginning of how I will get to know him? Through the pain of his death? I am not sure, but it has been a recurring dream of mine. It has affected me enough to think about it when I am not longer asleep.

Country Boy
I am a big fan of country music. I like it old, and I like it new. Also, I want to be the first to say that I want Faith Hill and Tim McGraw to remake a Loretta and Conway song. I want them to remake "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man." Although, they need to change it to "Mississippi Woman, Louisiana Man" to honor each of their home states. It's a great song, and it would be great for them to remake. It's a little unlike most of their songs, and it would be a well-received change.
LeAnn Rimes has a great new song out, and I thought that I would share it because that's why I have a blog. To share what's on my mind and what I like.

Lyrics for Song: Probably Wouldn't Be This Way
Lyrics for Album: This Woman
Got a date a week from Friday with the Preacher's son,
Everybody says he's crazy, I'll have to see
I finally moved to Jackson when the summer came,
I won't have to pay that boy to rake my leaves
I'm probably going on and on it seems I'm doing more of that these days
(Chorus:)
I probably wouldn't be this way
I probably wouldn't hurt so bad
I never pictured every minute without you in it, Oh you left so fast,
Sometimes I see you standing there
Sometimes it's like I'm losing touch
Sometimes I feel I'm so lucky to have had the chance to love this much
God give me moments grace
Cause if I'd never seen your face
I probably wouldn't be this way
Momma says that I just shouldn't speak to you,
Susan says that I should just move on,
You oughta see the way these people look at me,
When they see me 'round here talking to this stone,
Everybody thinks I've lost my mind, but I just take it day by day
(Repeat Chorus)
I probably wouldn't be this way,
I probably wouldn't hurt so bad,
I never pictured every minute without you in it, Oh you left so fast,
Sometimes I see you standing there,
Sometimes I feel an angels touch
Sometimes I feel that I'm so lucky to have had the chance to love this much
God give me a moments grace
Cause if I'd never see your face
I probably wouldn't be this way
I probably wouldn't be this way

The Green Baron
Working in the restaurant, you often encounter strange occurances. More than anything, I met some weirdos working at the Olive Garden. I think it was a great place to go to get out of the trailer.
One day for lunch, we had to sing for a birthday. So we went to this table, which was in "Bianco." (I'm not sure why I remember that.) I did not realize that we were singing "Happy Birthday" to a three-year-old wolf boy. We all busted out laughing. Poor little kid. It's not his fault. It was his stupid mother. He had one bushy eyebrow that went all the way across his forehead, and his hair was cut in a mullet. Some of us couldn't even finish singing. I think I finished, but I laughed the entire time. Little "wolf-boy" was so excited. Pauvre bette.
A frequent visitor was an elderly lady. We called her the Green Baron. Apparently, she was always cold. To "keep warm" she would put her napkin over her shoulders in the back. Personally, that is not the place I would put my napkin to keep warm, but to each his own. Well, and at the Olive Garden, our napkins where green. Thus, I deemed her "The Green Baron."
Another one of our frequent flyers was "Throw Momma." She looked like the old lady from Throw Momma from the Train. She was an old bitch too.

Baton Rouge
Today started like any other. I was bored, and I felt horribly confined to this bedroom. Cypress called, but my shitty cell phone only notified when she left a voicemail. She wanted to go to Baton Rouge to look for equipment, for her trip, so away we went.
It seems like everytime that Cypress and I are on I-10, we encounter wreckless drivers. This time, we met someone that must have been high as a kite. He was driving hanging his head out of the window, and swerving all over the lanes. I managed to say in front of him on the basin bridge. We called 911 and reported him, but I'm sure that they ignored the call. We didn't see him get pulled over. We wanted a show.
She bought some of the stuff that was required, and then we ate at the Olive Garden. We felt like being family, again.
On our way back to Lafayette, we both had gas. It's funny how when you fart in a car, and the opposite person rolls down the window...all the bad air goes in their direction. That's why I kept my window up because I am evil like that. I laughed so hard that I thought I was going to blow chunks on the windshield.

Who Shot JR?
Tonight was another great episode of both Desparate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy. Previews were given in anticipation of the season finale of D.H. It looks very interesting, and I will be tuned in. Cliffhangers are great and irritating, but will it even come close to the all-time cliffhanger from Dallas?
I am constantly wondering if what I do is enough. Meaning, am I burning calories and fat by exercising, and how much? Knowing the amount of calories that you are burning will help you adjust your caloric intake. I found a website that tells me just that: www.thefitclub.com
Lately, mom has been preparing meals that she believes to be lower in fat. Also, I found some Dove--Dark Chocolate candies. Within the wrapper, I found a message: "Dare to love completely." It's working! After eating, I vomited and I was not hungry anymore. I am going to be so sexy.
A story tonight on KATC reported what I have known to be true, and more people need to take notice to what Dr. Nickerson says: "Those who are more active, are less likely to suffer back problems."
By the way, if anyone cannot get in touch with me by my cell phone number. I am probably at home. I have no bars when I am home these days. I don't know what's up with that.

It's YOUR Store
I didn't call Albertson's today. I was instructed to set up my orientation and go through the 4-hours of paperwork to start working. Well, I am not going to call. We will make contact if they dial me. I am still getting commission checks from the insurance policies. I am not starving. These checks equal more than I was making at SPL. I would rather hold out and not get a menial job, when I could wait and get a good job.

Post-Interview
This morning, I had my interview at Company W. I met with Steve and Ben, both of which, I interviewed with the first time. This time, the VP joined in the interviewing process. I worked with the VP there previously. He told me about the new changes to the management makeup, including how the oldest son bought out the father and the rest of the family, which is also the reason to why the company is now known as [Company W].
The VP said, "Brian, I am lucky enough to have the pleasure of knowing you previously, and obviously we are interested in taking you to the next step or else you wouldn't be here today." That was positive, but if you remember, I don't want this job.
Also, they are looking for someone, and they would like the position to be filled as soon as possible. They are not rushed, but other employees are being stretched and stressed covering this vacancy. They are still looking at other people, but before the interview concluded, the VP wanted to know that if he were to call me next week...would I still be available.
I have yet to get an update from Baker-Hughes. I am hoping that I have an opportunity to make the best decision.

Company W
A few hours ago, I received a call from Company W. I have a second interview scheduled for 13:30 tomorrow.
When I tell most people about this, they get excited for me. Seriously, to me, it is not good news. The job is in Crowley. Granted, Crowley is a nice little town, but I do not want to live here. Very few of my friends still live here, and those that do...have their own lives. None of my friends from Lafayette will come here. I know this because that's what I have encountered for the past year and 3 months.
Company W works with vitamins and minerals. Have you ever smelled the inside of a vitamin bottle? Well, I have, and it is horrible. I interned there for a year during my senior year in high school. The vitamin smell is absorbed into your skin. It gets into your lungs, and it will forever remain in your car and the clothes that you wear. I am obsessed with scent. My car and my place of dwelling must always smell fresh. Vitamins are not fresh.
I have been reviewing the classifieds for quite some time. I never stopped looking when I got the job at SPL. For the last six months that I worked at Lafayette's, I was constantly reading job listings. I have consistently seen openings at Company W; SPL is guilty of the same. This tells me that it is not a pleasant place to work. I worked there before, and I know what I'm getting myself into. That's why I do not want the job.
Basically, I'm torn between a rock and a hard place. I don't want to work at Albertson's because I have a degree, and yeah...I'm going to say it. I am worth more! Company W will be great experience for me because I will be exposed to much more than I was at SPL, but it will not make me happy. I am still waiting on bigger and better offers, and if I get a bigger and better offer, I am a gone-pecan. The problem with that is I don't want to burn any bridges. I was told that I am highly respected at Company W, and I do not want to compromise that. Working there for only two months will hurt my reputation.
I need to quit freaking out because they haven't even made me an offer.

Cookie Monster
Hi, my name is Brian, and I am an emotional eater. I do not know how I became a food addict. We didn't have much food around growing up. We never had snacks, and supper-time was not a feast. Maybe I am making up for the lack that I had in my younger years.
I just have too much time to think and dwell on the negative things that have been going on. So, tonight I had a little pitty party. I showered, and attempted to sleep. Well, I could not sleep; therefore, here I am.
I am fighting the urge to eat everything that I can think is around. I am not hungry, for once. The urge continues. Eating makes me happy. I eat when I'm sad because it makes me happy. I eat when I'm happy because it is a way to celebrate. I eat when I'm hungry, so I don't pass out. I eat when I'm bored because there is nothing else to do. I eat when I'm stressed because it helps me cope. I eat alone, and I eat in groups. I eat when I'm fat because what else am I going to do? I eat when I'm exercising because I deserve it. There is never an occassion that is not perfectly complemented by food.
So here I am, awake and depressed, and craving some attention that I can only be quenched by eating. I don't have a friend nearby that I can hang out with. I don't have a roommate that is awake that can distract me. It's just me. It's just me, in my room that I sat in when I was in high school, starring at the same grey walls. I am completely surrounded by objects that will just make me sink deeper into the gloomy life I have created.
Since there is nothing constructive for me to do, I will crawl back into my bed that I made for myself, and lay in it.

Life Sucks, Then You Die
Lately it seems like life has more valleys than peaks. Today, I was finally able to land a job. BUT WAIT...it's not what you're thinking. I got a job at Albertson's, stocking groceries. Yes, the years that I spent at UL-Lafayette majoring in Biology are sadly wasted. How depressing, my current source of income is from a part-time job making $6.50/hour.
I would have been better off not wasting my time, money, or mental stability.

Hold Please
Many, many times I have called a company's customer service. A task that I never desire. When calling, it is never for a good reason. It is always because something has gone wrong, and you have to prepare to be abrasive. Yet, you don't want to be too abrasive because you know that these people deal with that everyday. Getting really irrate will get you nowhere, most of the time.
Every single time that I call, I always get the recording that states: "Due to high caller volume, hold times are longer than normal. Please hold, and someone will answer your call in the order in which it was received."
Also, most times when calling, you have to listen to a five minute recording telling you all kinds of information that is usually useless. After that, you get excited because your call is being transferred. It rings, and you're thinking, "YES! FINALLY!" Now, you get a recording stating that they are already closed, and you have to try again in the 3 hours a day that they are open.
Now, is it only when I call or do they always have high caller volumes? Maybe they should hire more staff to deal with always having high caller volumes. Most companies put customer service as their #1 priority. If that is the case, they need to hire more people and answer my call!

Blast From the Past
I have an SPL flashback. Jack "The Back" Warren III, my former supervisor, was fired Friday from SPL! OHHH...how the mighty have fallen. He has been applying for new jobs because SPL sucks more now than when I worked there. Halliburton called to verify his employment, and management called Jack into the office and canned him. Many of us are in disbelief that it did not happen earlier. He never works, and I won't get into how much he does NOT work. I was assured that he will not be missed. I'm just happy that he got fired, but I am a little saddened that he was able to get a job. Oh well, he will have to work for a few days. He does have the gift of gab, so he'll get out of working soon enough. If you want to see his fatness, you can visit him at Reniassance Downtown. Tell him that I sent you.
Also, I have an update on Christy. She is the psycho fat bitch that I worked with for 2 months at SPL. She's pregnant. She hasn't showed up to work for a month because she's on "bedrest." Has anyone heard of being on bedrest if you are just a month and a half pregnant? Most people don't even know that early. Now, she may be unemployed because the only person helping her keep her job was Jack, and now his fat ass is gone. She was a wreck when she found out that she was pregnant. I'm thinking that it isn't for her husband. Remember how she wanted dez nuts? She told me that she was a nympho. I hope the baby is bi-racial so her husband will kick her to the curb immediately.
Here's a new search engine that Nichole told me about. I found my friend York on there that I haven't seen in ages. Check it out: www.zabasearch.com
Also, check out Louisiana native Brittany Spears. Man...she's fucking trash. I'm so honte. Take a look if you dare: http://www.rankortank.com/zzz.htm
OH, and Happy Mother's Day to all my B-A-B-Y M-A-M-A's.

Life of A Server
Recently, I took part in a survey about the lifestyle of restaurant servers. The survey was part of a project for a psychology class that has extended over several semesters at UL. It was really fun. She is gathering evidence that waiters have their own lifestyle and form a unique community. Also, that they use a language that most others who do not work in a restaurant cannot understand. Here's an example of some of the jargon used in restaurant life:
behind you; on your back; deuces; two tops( or whatever tops); campers; to get stiffed; formal dining; family dining; family owned; corporate; tourist oriented; on the run; in the weeds; slammed; turning tables; on the fly; SOS; running; a runner; section/station...strange section names; working smart; working a double; working a split; front of the house; back of the house; one penny tips; two penny tips; full house; on a wait; padding the bill; to 86 something; order up; to fire an order; double sat or triple sat
Some of my personal favorites are: verbal tip; 408's; getting dark; geriatric top; kid top; diva top; crop dusting

In Yo Face
While I was on the phone with Kelly, I was constantly distracted by all of the Killdeers in the yard. By the way, those are birds, and they are also considered Plovers. So, I thought it would be interesting to take a picture of their eggs.

They like to make their nests in the ground. They are very camouflaged, but also susceptible to predators. This is in our driveway, and I put the big clumps of mud around the nest so that we wouldn't run over it.
I pulled a green shirt out tonight to go running, and look what I found!

Isn't this a horrible picture? It's nasty but I decided to share anyway. I saw Jan Smith tonight at the track. She has a tattoo that says "Brown Sugar." I think that's a hot tattoo for a black girl.
Today has been a blast from the past. I started out by interviewing at the first place that I have ever worked, and this evening I pull a shirt out of my closet that I bought in high school but never wore because it was so ugly. THEN, I see Jan at the track. This totally reeks of awesomeness.

Memories of School Shopping
Every summer before school started, Mom, Kevin, and myself would always go shopping for "school clothes." We would buy shoes, shirts, and pants for the new school year.
I will never forget one trip that we took to Maison Blanche, now known as Foley's. (I find the new name to be really gross.) Anyway, we were walking out of the store, back into the mall, and we spotted a female with her female friend at the men's cologne counter. She was wearing a blue jean mini skirt, and she had her friend looking out for her. Well, she grabbed a bottle of Safari by Ralph Lauren, and sprayed it UP her skirt!
Kevin made the comment: "She must have been smelling fonky up there." I can't figure out exactly why she wanted to spray men's cologne all over her womanhood. Was it that she wanted to smell like a man had been all over that, or did she want her boyfriend to think that another man had been all over that? I guess that will remain one of those unsolved mysteries.

My sunburn is now peeling. It's great to have a stomach that itches and flakes. It's sexy.
I have 2 interviews tomorrow! 2!! One is at a vitamin company working in their Quality Control Lab, and the other is at Academy Sports & Outdoors. (I'm kind of excited about Academy.)
I have lots to say, but I have been on the phone all night. Wish me luck!

Lose Weight Now!
Today both Coca-Cola and Pepsi lauched their new diet drinks sweeted with a chlorinated sugar called Splenda. This goes along with everything that I have been going through lately. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Check out this website about the sweetner.
Dear Governor Blanco:
For most of my life I have lived in a small community outside of Crowley, LA, called Ebenezer. I am a graduate of Crowley High School, and last year, I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
With my degree, I was able to gain employment at Southern Petroleum Laboratories as an Organic Extractions Laboratory Technician, and within months, I was promoted to Shift Supervisor. Beginning wages were $8.50 per hour, and when I resigned in March 2005, my wages were a mere $10.50 per hour. Diminutive amounts for someone that worked hard to complete a rigorous degree program. There were several contributing factors that lead up to my resignation, but that is not the aim of this correspondence.
One reason that I resigned is because I was offered a position as a Field Agent, with the Knights of Columbus here in Lafayette. Shortly, I discovered that selling insurance was not in my nature, and I stepped down out of respect for the agency and the organization.
Currently, I am challenged with the task of locating employment here in the Acadiana area. This is a great place to live. I love this part of the country. I love my family, and I love Acadiana. However, the lack of suitable employment may force me to search for opportunities out of state.
The TOPS program was designed to allow more of Louisiana’s students the opportunity of a college education. As a TOPS recipient, it is greatly appreciated, but with the lack of employment opportunities here, the money that the state has spent on TOPS may be lost to surrounding states.
I do not want to relocate. I need to work, but I cannot find a job, in my field. Today, I noticed a sign at Sonic on Pinhook Road, in Lafayette, that read, "Now Hiring." Granted, Sonic is a great opportunity for some; however, with a degree in Biology, it should be possible for me to find something more suited to my educational background and experience. I was saddened by the fact that I may have to resort to working in fast food, just to make ends meet. Is it possible for Louisiana to offer something more, or do I need to move somewhere more economically stable?
I appreciate your time and consideration.

My Day...
I heard the alarm ring for the first time today in about 2.5 weeks. It is really nice having that natural waking up process. Can't beat it! I feel sorry for everyone who has jobs, income, and an alarm clock.
I met Cypress at 08:45. I was supposed to meet her at 10:00, so I caught her in her PJ's. We ran the roads, and had an AWESOME lunch at Fezzo's in Scott. I had the "Crawfish Festival," and I highly recommend it. (I still have some left for tomorrow.)
I applied at Lafayette City-Parish Government, Drug Emporium, Academy, Albertson's, and Carmike Cinema. I think the crappier the job, the more tedious the job application. Alberton's and WalMart both administer a psychiatric evaluation on the computer. Is it that competitive to work for these companies? The last time I had one of these evaluations is when I applied to be a 911 Operator, and I can understand strict guidelines on that type of occupation.
Well, I arrive home, and I have a call from Cingular Wireless for an interview. FINALLY! Two weeks, and I finally get called for an interview! I would hope so. I applied for 4 jobs with Cingular last night. They must smell my desperation.
I farted in Kevin's face tonight. That's what you get for getting that close. It was priceless.

Update
I am still sunburnt. This is going to peel like a bitch.
The plan for tomorrow is to apply at Lafayette City Parish Government, Drug Emporium, Academy, Carmike Cinema, and any other place that I can think of. I have to do almost all of this before I meet Cypress at 10:00 to help her shop for her summer internship that she's going to spend in the mountain.
Check this out! Do you like Madonna?

You Know Dat's Right
I was on my way to the mall today. Not to buy anything, of course, to window shop and pretend that I have an income. Anyway, I was on Ambassador, stopped at the red light at Johnston St. I looked up at the car to my left, and I noticed that it was a very clean, dark silver, Toyota Camry. Inside the Camry, I saw two black women looking at me, talking, and pointing. I read the lips of one of them, and she said, "sexy."
I was like WHAT? I thought that was funny. Then, she proceeds to roll her window down. So, I ain't skurred....I rolled mines down too.
She said, "I just wanted to tell you that you have a very beautiful car. It's so nice. I love it, and that's a good color too." I was laughing, and saying thank you. I thought it was funny because I drive a black car.
The blacker the berry, the sweeter the juice.

TGIF
I am sooooooo glad the weekend is here! Oh...wait. I'm unemployed. Everyday is the weekend!!
On the positive side, if I was in school, I would be taking finals now. If I was working, I would be tired from the busy week. If I was working at SPL, I would be working ALL weekend. We worked shifts, and this weekend would be mine to work. Also, if I was working at the KC's, I would never have a day off.
Things are looking up.

Lafayette's
I asked Roz for my old job back at Lafayette's. She said that she would have to talk to Mr. Jerry and Zee, and see what they say about it. Zee made a comment which leads me to believe he may or may not hire me back. He was being sarcastic, but you never know.

OUCH
Today I decided that I would lay out and get a little darker. So, of course, I went out during the hottest hours that the sun is out, 11:00-13:00. By the way, I wasn't laying out that ENTIRE time.
I was determined to tan my legs because they look so white. Well, now the front of my body is RED. I flipped over and my back is a little pink, but it mostly just tanned. Yeah, I have been in pain all day.
I've been nursing my burn tonight with some Bud Light. It's working well; I'm trying to kill the pain before I go to bed. Oh yeah, and I'm rubbing some after sun gel TID & PRN.
I've been watching KLFY TV10, and for the past week, they have been advertising a special news report: "Fire hydrants. We'll tell you which ones work and which ones don't." Personally, I think that is something that the city should worry about more. They are acting like it's a huge expose. They probably all work, but they were just desparate for a story. I hate that station. In addition, To Lori Meaux-Steele: YOU SUCK! I hope you get fired because you are AWFUL! You should write newspaper articles so we don't have to watch you act the ass on television.

Whoot Whoot
My day began by killing a water mocassin. He was a mean little S.O.B. He took repeated strikes at me with his mouth open, ready to bite. BUT......I WON!
I dropped off an application at World Market today. Of course, not what I want, and no telling when I will even get called for an interview. So, I left there and began to think. Man, it has been so long since I used my brain. It was kinda foggy and full of cobwebs. I was on Kaliste Saloom, and I had a thought! Why should I not just go back to Lafayette's Restaurant? I know the people. I know the menu. I know the computer system, and I can go back with all the seniority that I had when I left! Perfect! Plus, I can get paid the day I start, since servers take home cash at the end of every shift. That's it; I have made my decision.
Kelly text messaged me tonight from the Kenny Chesney/Gretchen Wilson concert...where I was supposed to be. Ahh...I wish I could have heard her sing "When I Think About Cheatin'' live. I will see them BOTH again, at some point in time. I'm making a vow to that.

Tonight was the last episode of Nashville Star. The winner of the show was Erika Jo. I was pulling for her the entire time, so I was pumped (for her). She's an 18 year old, high school senior. She just went to her prom last weekend, and tomorrow morning her new single "I Break Things" is being released. Wow! That must be so exciting. I'm trying out for Nashville Star next year.

Nothing
Today, I did nothing. I watched the rain, checked the mail, and ate a blizzard. I did some semi-productive things like called Baker-Hughes for a job, but I only left a message. Also, I took all my personal files out of a temporary file box, and put them in a real filing cabinet.
Tomorrow, I'm going to go to Lafayette and apply for more jobs that I don't really want. It's depressing and discouraging. ONE DAY: I will get a job that I enjoy.
Today is a day that I have looked on all the things taht I do not have. I do not have a job. I do not have a place that I can call my own. My parents still fly through my room like it's a hallway. I'm 25, and I'm almost a loser like my brother.

Out of Order
Well, to all of those that I usually chat with online...my phone line is not working. As I am sure you know, I still dial-up the internet because I live out in Ebenezer, and that is all that is available. Tonight, I used my parents' line. So, until BellSouth can get their shit straight, I will not be online much. If you are lucky enough to have my cell phone number, use that if you miss me. If not, fuck you too.

A Willie Nelson Song
I did not have the best day today. I barely slept last night. I went on an interview for a job that I don't want. I spent most of the day alone. I'm sore. I'm tired, and now that it is Friday night, I am sitting alone in my room.
"Hello Walls. How'd things go for you today?"
I have to live my life for me, no one else will do it for me. You can't depend on others to have your days filled with fun and excitement. That is something that you have to make yourself. Now, I just need a plan.
By the way, Happy Earth Day!

Free Concert
Tonight, I went to the Marc Broussard concert at Festival Internationale de Louisiane. It was a great concert, and I saw so many people that I knew. I went with Scott, but we met up with Beth, Erica, and Damon. It was so packed outside. I felt like I was at the Plaza, on a Saturday night, back in 1999.

Here is a picture of Beth, Erica, and me. Damon was the photographer. It was taken with Beth's new camera. Actually, I got this picture off of her blog. In this picture, I'm hiding my Bud Light can behind my back. Beth asked me to since it was going to appear on her blog. Girls, thanks for making me look so tan. [wicked laugh]
The festival is going on all weekend, so I may make another appearance.

That's how we roll
Today, I went with Cypress, along with her travelling companion, on a hiking trip. It was completely spur of the moment, and I apologize if I didn't call to invite anyone. Cypress called me at about 08:30, and asked me how soon it would take me to get to her house to go hiking. I said, "I'll be there in about 35 minutes." Then, we were on our way...
First, we stopped at the gas station to tank up, where I paid $1.99/gallon. I like to advertise the cheapest prices that I see and pay. It is really sad when $1.99/gallon is cheap.
Two hours later, we arrived at our destination. The weather was beautiful, perfect day for hiking. We paid our admissions in the "Honor Box," and we started up the trail. We come upon sign #1.

"Experienced hikers in excellent physical condition," that's all us. The first waterfall we came upon was so beautiful. It was big, and the water was ice cold. So, we stripped down and swam. Man...you should have seen the frogs that were getting it on down there, and they were doing it froggy style. I didn't take my camera or backpack down the first waterfall because it looked pretty difficult to get to the bottom. I didn't want to fall, or break my camera. So, we didn't get any great shots of that. We'll save that one for next time.

Here's a picture of the second waterfall. This was such a great angle that I couldn't pass it up.

Here is Cypress at the second waterfall catching the ice cold water in her hands. You can tell it's cold by her reaction.

Along the trail, we spotted a tree with a huge split in it. I had Cypress stand in it to show just how amazing it really was. It makes you wonder what caused such a drastic change in the tree's anatomy.

Cypress's good eye spotted this King Snake. These snakes do bite, but they are not poisonous. They are good snakes because they actually fight off the bad snakes. So, you probably would not want to kill one of these.
We saw several birds along the way, but they were hard to spot because of all the trees. They have plenty of places to hide. We heard lots of woodpeckers, but were never able to see any. I was really looking for the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker. They are believed to be extinct, but that is still questionable. There is a big reward if anyone can prove a spotting of one.

This is the first bird that we saw, a Scarlet Tanager.

Here is the second bird that we spotted, a Magnolia Warbler. It took me forever to find this bird. He kept jumping around, and flying away from me. Tricky little fella.

This bird we actually did not see, but I know the call. He is a Prothonotary Warbler. His call is very distinct, and hard to mistake.

Cypress does not go on a roadtrip without Kermit. Here's the frog himself chillen' by a small stream. Man, it's not easy being green.

On the Road Again
Have you been keeping up with Nashville Star? Next week is the final episode. I don't know who is going to win. I'm rooting for Erica Jo. She's a cool high school chick with a great voice. Although, the guy Jody has a great style, and he is an incredible performer.
Today, Kevin brought home some boiled crawfish. I guess that boy is good for something every now and then. As he was driving home, he saw a HUGE bullfrog on the road. It's one of the biggest ones that I have ever seen. It must have weighed 5 pounds or more. CrAzY!

Kee-yaw...mais dats a big wowaron!

Hey sugah...you'd be good on a platter!
I spent all day in da Fette with my mom. I met Erica, at work, and I submitted my resume for a couple positions there. I got some other applications from around the metropolis. Mom and I ate at the Olive Garden. Man, that place brought back some awful memories. Patty ("Crack-head") came talk to us. I'm surprised she didn't ask if we had any Valium. She's a manager, and she asks her servers if they have drugs for her. It's not like she's in her twenties either. She's in her mid-fifties. If you ever see this woman, you will know that she is cracked out. She will have conversations with herself. It's freaky.
It doesn't sound like we did much, but we spent the day on the road. I went to my Nanny's house, and she had to show me everything new that she did around the house. She was all proud.
Hey...has anyone see Courtney Gary on the new LGMC commercial? I was just wondering.
I talked to Trey tonight about some oilfield jobs. Good jobs...not roughneck jobs. "Now is the time to get in," he says.
Some of my new favorite TV shows are House MD, and Grey's Anatomy. Man, I could sit and watch those shows all day long.

Southern Louisiana Goodness
As many of my friends know, food is my passion. I have heard that many people around the world eat to live; however, I live to eat. I don't mind trying new things, unless it's tripe. Tonight, mom is frying some frog legs and making a frog stew with the meat....that's not on the legs.

Mmmm...Fried Frog Legs. Ca c'est bon, cher!

Here's the Frog Stew. Mais, dat's gonna be good over some of dat Crowley Rice, yeah.

Nothing like sucking heads and pinching tails on Easter Sunday.
Hey Erica, thanks for all of your help. Luv ur guts!

Sunday Evening
Well, I quit my job this evening. Actually, all went well. Although, I think Bob was just being fake. He said, "I repect your opinions." To me, that was the typical rehearsed business reply. Everything he says on the phone and person-to-person comes from a script. That's how he tried to teach us.
No definite new jobs on the horizon. I need an income as soon as possible. Tomorrow I will make that venture into the "real world" to find a shitty job in Crowley. Mom said that they were hiring a janitor at the Rice Palace. I love having a Bachelor's.

Sunday Morning
Last time I spoke to my boss was 19:00, Friday evening. We agreed that we would see each other at 18:00 today, and we would discuss everything then, NOT BEFORE. Well, he just called me. Now, I do not feel the least bit guilty when I show up to tell him that our business relationship has come to an end. I won't put in 2-weeks because not like I spent enough time at this job to even use it as a reference. All things considered, this is not really the type of job that a 2-weeks notice is applicable. If they are all about selling, and they want to sell on a "second appointment" that is an appointment that I won't be around for. I am not wasting any more of my time, energy, or GAS!
Hopefully I will be home in time to see Desperate Housewives. It's been eons.

Dear Erin,
I know that you don't read my blog now, but maybe someday you'll come across it. You're going through a rough time. I am sure that you think no one understands and that everyone is looking down on you. Neither do I know what others think, nor do I care. The same should go for you.
I do want you to remember that I care. I was there for you in the past. I am here for you now, and I will remain by your side in the future. You are a great friend, and the thought of losing that...Well, it just can't happen. Please, when things get a little shaky, remember my number.
Always,
Brian

Give Me Freedom
I have come to a conclusion. I am not a business man. Actually, I knew it all along, but I was trying to make it work. The insurance business is not for me.
I went over the numbers, and it appears that I have been working 70 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Now, that does not include the work that I have to do when I get home to prepare for the next day.
This week has been so tiresome, and I actually sold my first policy. I have been busy working 70 hours this week, and Bob (my General Agent = Boss) wants me to fill my Saturday with studying for ProStart, and also on my next certification. In addition to that, I have tons of stuff to catch up on for work. He has already planned my Sunday. First off, I have to stand outside of St. John's Cathedral and invite parishoners over to view their new KC home. That'll take about four hours if I do 2 masses. At 18:00, I have to go to the office and make phone calls for 1.5 hours. Then, I will just be getting home around 20:30, and it will be time to start the week all over again.
I am SICK of it. Neither have I seen paycheck #1, nor dollar #1. I should be getting paid tomorrow, but it's going to be a "draw check," not the salary that I was promised that would be an addition to my commissions. A draw check is basically a cash advance on commissions that I haven't made yet. The plan is to see what I get paid tomorrow, and Sunday, I will arrive with all of my forms and supplies that they provided me. I will simply tell Bob that this is not working out for me, and I will take a small job in Crowley.
Right now, to work for the KC's is costing more money than I'm making. I put over 100 miles on my car everyday, and I'm not making any money. I figure that if I get a job in Crowley, I can drive my car for over 2 weeks on a tank of gas, and I will, at the very least, make minimum wage, which will pay the bills.
Stay tuned...

Should I?
Last week, I had a conversation with an attorney. We were discussing college. He missed his college days, eventhough they were not very long ago.
Personally, I do not miss my college days because they just ended. I mentioned to him that when I originally decided to major in Biology, I was in persuit of one day becoming a Physical Therapist. He told me that I should go back. I have been thinking about him making those comments. I don't feel as though I am ready to go back to school this instant. However, after evaluating the diverse positions that I have held, I hold my job at Lafayette General Medical Center very high. In fact, I consider it one of the best jobs that I ever had.
While working at LGMC, I met many great people, the same as I have with most jobs. I just felt great about myself. I was helping those who were ill. I did get aggravated by the physicians, but I took comfort in knowing that I did an exceptional job. I engulfed myself in the medical information. I took part in discussions about patients and symptoms. I even went as far as to take a class on reading the electrocardiographs, and I learned many different aspects about the electrophysiology of the human heart.
Keeping all of this in mind, I am feeling that I may have a part in health care. I am not sure where but somewhere. I may have to brush off the books sometime in the future and take that leap into medicine.

PUH, I'm Tired
I have been running all week, and now I am exhausted. We've been working 12-hour days. I have been up since before 06:00 this morning, and I had stayed up all night preparing for a talk that I had to give today at our meeting. I'm sure glad I got past that.
I ended up eating Wendy's tonight. I am busting at the seems. My clothes from last summer, are nowhere close to fitting. I think I've gained close to 25 pounds since last summer. Isn't that crazy? I had to remind myself of that today when I went shopping for name-brand items at TJ Maxx. You can enquire later if you want to know how much I paid.

Stumped
I am really tired, and I don't really have anything special to blog about tonight. I'm stressed and aggravated. Although, I got a link that amused me: http://www.uwbadgers.com/photos/full_photo.aspx?pic_filename=detmer_joe_mtrk_05_02a
Well, the link isn't working anymore. Luckily, I saved it before they took it down from the site. Here's a looky.

Be Not Afraid
Today, the Catholic Church, and the world, is struck by the death of Pope John Paul II. Within the next 15 days, we will embark upon a new era, but his legacy will never be forgotten. In his final hours, he said to the youth: "I have looked for you, and now you have come to me. Now, I thank you."
He lived as an example to us all, and he accepted death courageously. He told the world: "I am happy, and you should be as well."

Steak Night
Tonight, I ate at GJ's in Branch. I had a 32-ounce sirloin, with a stuffed potato, for $13.99! What a deal! They had a live Cajun band playing, and there is also a buffet. I have never had anything but the steaks here. It's a really cool place, and it is FILLED with antiques. I can't even stress enough when I say FILLED.
We should get together and go there one evening. Let me know when you're available.
